Castries, Saint Lucia: The Castries-based dog shelter, HelpAWS, has recently welcomed four babies to the shelter during the times when the organisation has been dealing with space issues.
As per the update, “Say hello to the Zenon litter! These four little babies joined us yesterday; 3 girls and one boy. Sadly their owner could no longer take care of them, so she called us. We promise to get their mom spayed as part of our Spay-a-Stray campaign.”
Accordingly, not only will the organisation be able to help this mom go through the rest of her life not having to worry about having unwanted babies, but they will also reduce her risk of contracting many diseases.
“Our Spay-a-Stray campaign is dedicated to reducing the overpopulation of stray births on the island. In addition, we are teaching and educating locals on how to best care for their animals so that they will live long and happy lives,” it added.
Furthermore, the organisation mentioned, “There are so many similar stories to these pups, and unfortunately, we know there will be more requiring our care. We are so lucky to have been able to have the opportunity to take in these pups and help them find their forever homes. We can’t say it enough, but we are so thankful for all of our dedicated supporters and donors who help make it possible to continue the work that we do.”
While asking the public for donations and support, HelpAWS stated that please consider contributing to help the volunteers towards the campaign to combat the cause of overpopulation and get these babies and their moms fixed. “You can donate via Etransfer, Paypal, or Zelle to donate@helpaws.com or via Venmo to @helpaws,” the organisation said.
