Castries, Saint Lucia: The animal welfare organisation of Castries, Saint Lucia – HelpAWS introduces ‘tree duo’ Ash and Maple. While sharing information about the little puppies, the organisation mentioned, “We often find animals hiding in the most unlikely places around the island, seeking shelter and refuge after being abandoned by a human or left without a mother.”

In addition to this, it stated that the volunteers of the organisation have crawled through bushes and shrubbery along roadsides and through twisted metal and trash under buildings to retrieve puppies. They have plucked them from the middle of busy roads, from the water, and from bags tossed next to trash cans. Just when HelpAWS think they have seen it all, something new comes along.

“Meet the tree duo, Ash and Maple, appropriately named since they were found IN an old rotting tree near the beach. We aren’t sure how they got there or how long they’d been hiding. It took several attempts over multiple days to retrieve them, as little Ash is quite timid and would not come far enough out of the stump for the rescuers to grab him. Although Maple was caught several times, we weren’t about to leave little Ash on his own,” the post read.

It furthermore mentioned that thanks to the perseverance of friend who was determined to get these two, as well as the help of two amazing vacationers who jumped in to help, both babies are finally out of that old rotten tree and safe with HelpAWS at the shelter.

“Maple seems to have no inhibitions. She will happily accept food, petting, and scratches and seems to already understand her life just took a turn for the better. Poor little Ash spends much of his time hiding in the corner, trying to be invisible, hoping if he doesn’t make eye contact with us, we will leave him be. We are 100% confident we will win him over, though!” the post by the organisation mentioned.

It concluded, “As these babies go through the normal intake process and settle in, we are asking for your assistance by way of donations to help offset the never-ending bills we face day in and day out.”

While appealing the followers it outlined that donations can be sent to donate@helpaws.com via e-transfer, PayPal or Zelle or to @helpaws using Venmo. To learn more about HelpAWS and the pups they currently have available for adoption, go to www.helpaws.com/adopt.
