Saint Lucia: HelpAWS appeals New Yorkers to become home to shelter pups

Castries, Saint Lucia: HelpAWS has asked the travellers from New York to become flight parents and also become home for the puppies of the shelter. It took it to social media and stated, “Bostonians and New Yorkers are known for their boisterous, no nonsense approach to life and their “wicked awesome” accents. They are also known for their huge, puppy lovin’ hearts! And that’s a good thing, because WE NEED YOU, BOSTON and NEW YORK!!”

It added, “We have several upcoming flights heading to Boston and New York, and we need some warmhearted Bostonians and New Yorkers to open their hearts and homes to temporarily (or permanently) foster a few special puppies.”

Further, it informed that these babies didn’t have the easiest beginning, but since coming into the shelter they have thrived. And now, they are SO ready to take the next step on their journey to happily ever after!

As per the update, since it’s getting more and more difficult to secure flights off the island for our little fluff butts, we simply can’t pass up the opportunity when someone offers to be a flight parent to help get a pup or two closer to that end goal of finding a forever home and family.

It also stated that the perfect foster home for our pups is with someone who has time to spend helping the puppy settle into life inside a home, rather than on the streets of Saint Lucia or at our shelter. The pup may be with you just a few days or even a few weeks before it is adopted. We do ask that you can commit to at least a 4 week period as it can take some time to find them the perfect person. Potty training, walking on a leash, and house rules will all be new to them. Having another friendly animal in the home often helps the puppy feel more settled, but they also thrive being the only cutie patootie and getting all the attention!

It concluded, “Whether you are an experienced foster with a couple rescue babies under your belt, or you’ve never fostered before but want to be part of making a lasting impact by fostering now, we’d love to hear from you! Just go to www.helpaws.com/foster to complete a foster application, and one of our volunteer foster counselors will reach out to schedule the interview and answer any questions you may have.”
