Saint Lucia: Education Ministry introduced transportation subsidy, govt announces fuel price changes
Saint Lucia: The Education, Sustainable Development, Innovation, Science, Technology and Vocational Training Ministry has informed parents, along with the guardians of students registered on the Transportation Subsidy Programme.

Saint Lucia: The Education, Sustainable Development, Innovation, Science, Technology and Vocational Training Ministry has informed parents, along with the guardians of students registered on the Transportation Subsidy Programme, that the ministry has decided to restart the transportation service from Monday (September 5, 2022). The subsidy will be applied to the same buses from the last school term.
The Education Ministry has informed that the new students who have been accepted on the programme to find their way to school on the first day. Further, it guided “to liaise with the school bursar for their bus assignments”.
In addition to this, the government of Saint Lucia has informed that the petroleum pricing mechanism, the retail price of LPG 100 lb cylinder has changed from September 5, 2022, whereas the retail price of diesel, gasoline, kerosene, LPG 20 and 22 lb cylinders remains unchanged. The government has stated that the price has changed because of the fluctuation in international oil prices.
The government stated that gasoline prices remain unchanged at $3.95 per litre or $17.95 per gallon, kerosene remains unchanged at $3.91 per litre or $17.77 per gallon, and diesel remains unchanged at $3.95 per litre or $17.95 per gallon.
The government furthermore outlined that the price of 20 Pound Cylinder (9.07 kg) remains unchanged at $45.27 per cylinder, and 22 Pound Cylinder (9.98 kg) remains unchanged at $49.79 per cylinder.
While giving a brief about changed prices, the government said that the amount of 100 Pound Cylinder (45.36kg) decreased from $320.49 to $303.53 per cylinder, and the 20 lb Cylinder (9.07kg) is being subsidized at $15.44 per cylinder, and the 22 lb Cylinder (9.98kg) is being subsidized at $16.99 per cylinder.
The authorities informed the general public that the next change in the retail price of fuel products would be introduced on September 26, 2022 (Monday).
