Saint Lucia: Abhyssin John surrenders, Police seeks other 4 in stolen goods case

Abhyssin John, one out of the five suspects charged for the offence of handling stolen goods has turned himself in to the police. The Saint Lucia Police requested the public to assist them in finding the other four.

Castries, Saint Lucia: Abhyssin John, one out of the five suspects charged with the offence of handling stolen goods, has turned himself into the police. The authorities requested the public to assist them in finding the other four.

It is to be noted that the authorities of the Criminal Investigation Department in Castries received a report of Burglary at Courts situated on Chaussee Road, Castries, Saint Lucia, on Thursday, 9th November 2023.

Moreover, at the starting phase of the investigation, five people were apprehended and charged. Also, the warrants of arrest were issued against five suspects for the offence of handling stolen goods.

Warrants were issued against the five accused, which includes

  • Jahvis Alfred, resident of Wilton’s Yard, Castries.
  • Mandel Lionel alias “Pampo”, resident of Wilton’s Yard, Castries.
  • One ‘Sal’, resident of Wilton’s Yard, Castries.
  • Zilpah Mitchell, resident of Wilton’s Yard, Castries.
  • Abyssin John, resident of Wilton’s Yard, Castries.

It is to be further added that Zilaph Mitchell and Abhyssin John were also issued a warrant of arrest for possession of a firearm.

Notably, Abhyssin John reported himself to the Criminal Investigation Department for both the offences he committed in Castries on Thursday, 18th January 2024.

Subsequently, Abhyssin John was taken to the First District Court in Castries, Saint Lucia. He was granted bail by magistrates but under the fulfilment of certain conditions. The condition includes,

For possession of a Firearm, the requirements include

  • He had to pay twenty-thousand dollars (XCD 20000) in cash, suitable surety or land documents

For Handling Stolen Goods, the requirements include

  • He had to pay three thousand dollars (XCD 30000.00) in cash, suitable surety or land documents.

Furthermore, the residents of the island nation have also made an appeal to the citizens to contact them and provide them with the required information if they know any details regarding the other four accused.

The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force while requesting the residents stated “Every case that the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force solves is a triumph for all Saint Lucians. Remember, if you spot it, report it.”

The residents of the island nation also responded to the matter through their comments on social media. As, one person with a Facebook handle Marcelline Emmanuel commented the following “You did a good choice. God is well please while you are there speak to God in a quiet place all by yourself ask him to change you.”

While another person commented “I don’t know who you are but I will be praying for you. God bless you.”

“Way to go brother use that time to reflect on your life make a change,” commented the other person.

The authorities of the island nation have also promised that they will take every possible measure to find the other four and get them arrested for their offence. They have assured that they will always prioritize the safety and security of the nation.
