Roseau Christmas Village showcases local creativity 

The Roseau Christmas Village officially opened at the Botanic Gardens on Friday, which will allow several local businessmen to showcase their creativity and talent at the event. The event features handmade crafts made up of tropical motifs and locally sourced food and drink.

Melissa Poponne Skerrit, a Minister of Housing, Land and Urban Development, stated that the Roseau Christmas Village will personify Dominica’s craftsmanship, culture and creativity.

She urged citizens to buy gifts for loved ones from this Botanic Garden to support the local entrepreneurs.

“And so, I encourage you to buy, I encourage you to shop… Ladies, let’s give Amazon and Shein a break this Christmas, and let’s give one another a gift from here because you will be supporting our local entrepreneurs, Minister Skerrit stated.

Through this initiative, people will be able to connect with each other, as Christmas Village is a place where one can cozy up with a festive cocktail and enjoy delicious food.

Notably, the site displays the open-air shopping, which has several new vendors and eateries.

The Minister of Housing, Land and Urban Development further said that the Roseau Christmas Village offers a safe and secure family-friendly environment.

They have organized various holiday activities for the Children, such as music, fun games, and Santa and the North Pole characters, to name a few.

Meanwhile, the Prime Minister of Dominica, Roosevelt Skerrit, is always exhilarated about the Christmas Village, especially where the small businesses are concerned.

He talked about the 60-plus small businesses across Dominica that will display their products and talents and place them on sale.

“As my wife has indicated, they are catering for 60 plus small businesses across Dominica who will showcase their local talents and the products of Dominica and place them on sale”, the Prime Minister commented.

As an important element of the Christmas Village, PM Skerrit added that it will bring joy to the citizens of Dominica, mainly the children and senior citizens.

It is to be added in PM Skerrit’s remarks that this village is a space where families can come together and appreciate the true spirit of Christmas.
