Rehabilitation of Dominica Club Ground commences, turn into sports space

Roseau, Dominica: The Government of Dominica has commenced the rehabilitation of the Dominica Club grounds with a vision to offer exciting and recreational activities to the citizens of the constituency. The facility will offer opportunities for tennis, pickleball, squash and roller skating in order to offer diverse and engaging activities to the residents for their entertainment and commercial purposes.

With the rehabilitation of Dominica Club, the Minister for Housing and Urban Development, Melissa Skerrit aims to transforming Roseau to a modern city and vibrant hub. While sharing about the commencement of the project, the Minister took to her social media handle and expressed her excitement.

The first phase of the project is reported to be commenced by this week which includes the clearing and demolition of the existing structures in order to enhance the access to sites. Further the authorities will rehabilitate the tennis court as a part of their initial step which is significant for leading them towards their transformation of converting the constituency to a modern and recreational hub.

The second phase of the Dominica Club grounds will start from the entrance area, which will feature kiosks for vendors and other small business holders.

The administration of Dominica has been working closely with Billy Doctrave, the president of the Dominica Olympic Committee and PanAm Sports. Their financial contributions have played an immense role in making this vibrant and significant project a reality for the island nation. With the completion of this project, the government aimed to welcome children, family, sports enthusiasts, tennis enthusiasts in order to convert the area back into a family-friend space where all the citizens and travellers can enjoy regardless of their age.

As per the authorities, sports tourism is in growing demand and with the establishment of such project they are aiming to enhance sports options for the local citizens as well as visitors.

Notably, the government has appealed to the public to be vigilant and refrain from accessing the ground for any purpose during the construction work. The cooperation from the public would ensure smooth progress for the transformation of the Dominica Club Project.
