Minister Dr Douglas extends wishes to 24 athletes representing nation at 51st CARIFTA

Minister of Foreign Affairs of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Denzil Douglas extended best wishes to all 24 athletes who are representing St Kitts and Nevis at the 51st CARIFTA Games which will be held in Grenada this weekend.

Basseterre, St Kitts and Nevis: Minister of Foreign Affairs of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Denzil Douglas, extended best wishes to all 24 athletes who are representing St Kitts and Nevis at the 51st CARIFTA Games which will be held in Grenada this weekend.

The CARIFTA Games is an athletic competition which was founded by the Caribbean Free Trade Association and is held annually with the motive of providing a platform for several athletes from different nations to showcase their skills, talent, abilities and techniques.

The games consist of track and field events which are further classified into two age categories such as Under-17 and 20. The games include hurdle races, middle-distance track events, sprint races, relays, jumping and throwing events and many more.

All these athletic events not only polish the participant as a sportsperson but also play a pivotal role in boosting their confidence and giving them the spirit to represent their nation at such a significant sports event.  

The athletes who will represent the U17 Males category include,

  5. Chesson Liburd
  6. Aldrett Nisbett
  7. Vyhonrai Francis
  8. Niran Warde

The athletes who will represent the U20 Females category include

The athletes who will represent the U17 Males category include,

  3. Jaheem Clarke
  4. Kirkland Harris
  5. Keyonjay Richards
  6. Ja’Aime Francis
  7. Tejuan Webbe
  8. Kaiem Liburd

The athletes who will represent the U17 Females category include

  3. Khaldreece Chapman
  4. Kimaya Phipps

Moreover, Dr Denzil Douglas also acknowledged the supporting staff for being the backbone of the team and for extending help and endless support to the players by looking after their basic needs and amenities.

Moreover, Minister of Sports, Agriculture, Fisheries and Marine Resources, Samal Duggins also took to his official Facebook account and extended best wishes to the players representing St Kitts and Nevis. He extended wishes to all the athletes who are embarking on their new journey to Grenada for the CARIFTA 2024 games.

“Remember: talent takes you far, but your attitude determines your altitude! Believe in yourselves, stay positive, and represent your country well,” noted Minister Samal Duggins.

Notably, the delegation is led by President Delaney who will represent St Kitts and Nevis Athletics at CARIFTA Congress.
