PM Terrance Drew updates on nationals residing in Taiwan, following earthquake
Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew updated us about the well-being of fellow nationals residing in the Republic of China (Taiwan) after the destructive earthquake of 7.4 magnitude witnessed by them.

Basseterre, St Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew updated us about the well-being of fellow nationals residing in the Republic of China (Taiwan) after the destructive earthquake of 7.4 magnitude witnessed by them.
While sharing the updates, PM Drew stated that he made a call to Saint Kitts and Nevis Ambassador to the Republic of China (Taiwan), Donya Francis to enquire about the citizens of St Kitts and Nevis.
“It’s after 3 in the morning, I know that, but I had to enquire about our citizens there by calling our Ambassador to Taiwan, HE Donya Francis,” noted PM Terrance Drew.
He also highlighted that the nationals are reported to be well and have not received any information as of now regarding the death of any national. He also requested all the citizens to keep all the nationals residing in Taiwan in their prayers and wishes for their well-being.
Moreover, PM Drew also shared about his conversation with Ambassador Michael Lin, Taiwan’s Ambassador to St Kitts and Nevis. While sharing about their discussion, he said that Taiwan has faced 7 confirmed deaths, and injuries to 736 individuals and 77 persons were rescued from the devastating effects of the earthquake.
“Our hearts, concerns and prayers are with the people of Taiwan at this time. Our citizens continue to be safe,” wrote PM Drew.
Notably, the earthquake is considered to be the most powerful and impactful in the 25 years that it has caused severe damage to several buildings and homes. Along with that, it has also caused loss of lives, injuries and tough challenges to the rescued teams.
PM Drew also added that the administration of St Kitts and Nevis stands in solidarity with the people and government of Taiwan during this difficult phase. He stated that he is committed to providing all the required support to Taiwan to help people recover from the harsh effects of the disaster.
Following his post on social media, several residents took to their Facebook accounts and extended their prayers and best wishes to Taiwan.
The official Facebook account of Taiwan in St Kitts and Nevis commented “Thank you Prime Minister for your warm message. Taiwan will stay resilient and strong.”
“I don’t know what to say about pm, with all the love you have for the people of St Kitts and Nevis,” wrote a person with Facebook handle George Nolan.
Another person with a Facebook account Erasmus Williams commented the following “May God provide comfort to the people of the ROC during this time of challenge.”
