Prime Minister Dr Roosevelt Skerrit mourn and condole the demise of Journalist and Businessman Parry Bellot.

Roseau, Dominica: Prime Minister Dr Roosevelt Skerrit mourn and condole the demise of Journalist and Businessman Parry Bellot, who died at the Dominica China Friendship Hospital on Monday. Bellot was having some health issues and was admitted to the hospital.
PM Skerrit wrote on his Facebook page, “My family & I are profoundly sad to learn of the passing of Journalist and Businessman Parry Bellot. On behalf of the Dominican government, I extend deepest condolences to his wife, children & extended family”.
He further commended the contribution of veteran journalist in media and communication, citing, when Bellot was in the position of Press Secretary during the Dame Eugenia Charles government, he was the trusted and trustworthy voice of the government and was admired for his professionalism and efficient distribution of public information.
“Mr Bellot was a man of strong conviction who, in the later years, advocated for excellence in media practice in Dominica and the region, and drove for the organization of the Dominica Media and Communication Association,” the prime ministers’ further wrote on his social media post.
Bellot’s patriotic love for the country was evident from his many public utterances & his work to preserve and promote the arts and culture of Dominica in his magazines and other publications.
Bellot has also served as Productivity Consultant to the Dominican government, in relation to which PM Skerrit underscored his contributions, noting, he was equally resolute in the pursuit of best practice in the public sector & in the strengthening of civil servants’ competence and work ethic.
“We respected his advice on public sector management and the practice of good governance and welcomed the opportunity to collaborate with Bellot on several projects,” the post further adds.
Referring to Bellots’ ethics and values, PM Skerrit added, his impartiality and objectiveness set the right tone and should serve as an instance of how political matters can be consulted between opposing sides in a reasonable and respectful manner.
Bellot was a passionate defender of the Dominican government policy but was fair and respectful in discussions related to public affairs and politics.
PM Skerrit outlined, “Parry Bellot will long be remembered for his enduring love of media and for his contributions to Dominica’s development in the field of business and enterprise. May he rest well. My prayers & thoughts are with his loved ones”.
