PM Mia Mottley congratulates Prez Irfaan Ali for receiving IICA Award for Sustainable Development

Bridgetown, Barbados: Mia Amor Mottley, Prime Minister of Barbados, has extended congratulations to the President of the Republic of Guyana and her brother, Dr Irfaan Ali. These heartfelt congratulations were extended because President Ali will be the first recipient of the IICA Award for Contribution to Food Security and Sustainable Development.
PM Mia Mottley has taken her official Twitter handle to wish President Irfaan Ali. She shared a tweet by CARICOM: the Caribbean Community informing about this new achievement by the Guyanese President.

According to the official update by the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA), this award will be presented to President Mohamed Irfaan Ali because of the agricultural transformation, food security and support for building resilient economies in the Caribbean region, including Guyana.
It outlined that other reasons behind the presentation of awards to President Ali were his continuous commitment and support to all the public-related agendas such as rural connectivity, regional integration, social inclusion as well as gender equality. President Ali was also praised for his dedication towards the Caribbean Community and Guyana as the Head of Government in the CARICOM Quasi-Cabinet, after being elected as Guyanese President.
It is worth noting that President Irfaan Ali has implemented various initiatives focusing on sustainable agriculture, which is the fundamental pillar for national as well as regional development.
IICA additionally noted that the President of Guyana has successfully advocated for the creation of the CARICOM Ad Hoc Ministerial Task Force (MTF) on Food Security and Food Production for CARICOM.
Along with this, IICA informed that it is expected that President Irfaan Ali will be visiting the Headquarters of IICA in the Americas in San José, Costa Rica, as a Guest of Honor. President will also inaugurate the Forty-third Regular Meeting of the Executive Committee of IICA on July 19, 2023.
