According to the official update by the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA), this award will be presented to President Mohamed Irfaan Ali because of the agricultural transformation, food security and support for building resilient economies in the Caribbean region, including Guyana.

It outlined that other reasons behind the presentation of awards to President Ali were his continuous commitment and support to all the public-related agendas such as rural connectivity, regional integration, social inclusion as well as gender equality. President Ali was also praised for his dedication towards the Caribbean Community and Guyana as the Head of Government in the CARICOM Quasi-Cabinet, after being elected as Guyanese President.
