PADF and Viva Resorts by Wyndham collabs for sustainable tourism in Caribbean

The officials of the Pan American Development Foundation, also called PADF, announced a collaboration with the Viva Resorts by Wyndham to take steps in the sector of tourism in the Caribbean. The intention of the partnership is to promote the responsible and sustainable development of the industry.

The Pan American Development Foundation is a non-political and non-governmental organisation that is dedicated to the range of issues and challenges faced in the western hemisphere. The foundation has been active since 1962, after it was situated by the Organisation of American States.

Meanwhile, Viva Resorts by Wyndham is a luxury hospitality chain based in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. The all-inclusive vacation resort chain has expanded around the region with its major ventures in the Dominican Republic, the Bahamas, and Mexico.

The partnership between the Pan American Development Foundation and Viva Resorts by Wyndham is disclosed to be based on the similar goal of protecting the nature of the Caribbean. Under this collaboration, the focus will be on taking significant action towards sustainability, solid waste management, and coastal and marine conservation.

The officials mentioned that the objectives under the partnership are kept in alignment with the vision of USAID Caribbean Sustainable Ecosystems Activity. The aim is to address the social and climate challenges faced in the Caribbean region while maintaining the well-being of local communities and natural resources on notice.

The Executive Director of the Pan American Development Foundation, Katie Taylor, also shared her words on the collaboration and said, “Partnering with Viva Resorts by Wyndham is more than just a step forward. It is a pivotal moment in our shared commitment to safeguarding the marine ecosystems of the Caribbean.”

She added, “This partnership exemplifies the power of aligning with organisations that recognise the urgency of sustainable tourism and the vital role it plays in protecting our oceans. Together, we are not only preserving the beauty of these environments but ensuring that future generations inherit a thriving and resilient Caribbean.”

It was also stated by the officials that the properties for tourism purposes developed under Viva Resorts by Wyndham will be secured as protected zones. This zone will take care of the environment t along with living beings like birds, turtles, manatees, and whales.

The blue corridors will be established using the plan to support natural processes like turtle hatching. The project will be taken forward under the Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility Strategy of Viva Resorts by Wyndham.

The Corporate Director of Marketing and Public Relations at Viva Resorts by Wyndham, Erika Sordo, also expressed her views in relation to the partnership with the Pan American Development Foundation. The collaboration is aiming for a lasting impact on the region while achieving goals.
