West Indies’ renowned Sunil Narine smashes maiden T20 100, wins fans’ heart

Sunil Narine, a Trinidadian and one of the renowned players of the West Indies Cricket team, scored first ever century of his T20 career in Indian Premier League 2024. He has played over 500 matches in the T20 format and this crucial and dominating knock came on Tuesday, 16th April 2024 against Rajasthan Royals (RR).

Indian Premier League is a T20 league which is conducted annually and it is a contest between 10 teams fighting to claim the title and trophy of the championship.

Sunil Narine who is widely known for his off-spin bowling has been continuously making remarkable contributions through his batting in this IPL 2024. Earlier, he used to bat at the seventh-eighth position, but in the IPL 2024 he has been given an opportunity to contribute as an opener and through his performances he managed to lead up to the expectations of the fans, coaches and the entire management of his team.

Sunil Narine plays for Kolkata Knight Riders, which is famously endorsed by the world-famous star Shahrukh Khan. Narine’s first hundred came against Rajasthan Royal, he played the crucial knock of 109 runs and gave his team a good start.

Narine scored 109 runs in 56 balls, with 13 fours and 6 sixes, he played this knock at an impressive strike rate of 194.64. He also displayed his impressive inning with the bowl, as he took two crucial wickets from the opponent team’s captain Sanju Samson and their hitter Rovman Powell.

He claimed two wickets by giving away 30 runs in 4 overs at an economy rate of 7.50. This was the 31st game of Indian Premier League 2024 and the game was played at the home ground of KKR, Eden Gardens.

Though his team, KKR wasn’t able to win the match but his impressive knock was loved and lauded by all the fans. With his hundred, Sunil Narine also became the top five contenders of the orange cap race. Orange Cap is a memento of appreciation which is given to the player who scores the maximum runs in the entire tournament.

Notably, Virat Kohli, the famous and the most followed Cricketer on Instagram is currently the Orange Cap holder with 361 runs which is followed by Riyan Parag of Rajasthan Royals with 318 runs and Sunil Narine amassing 276 runs in the third spot respectively.
