West Indies fight hard but fall short as England wins T20I series with 3-0

West Indies Cricket team gave a close and tough fight but failed to get an upper hand on that as they lost their third consecutive T20I match against England. The latter sealed the series by 3-0 with their exceptional performances, taking the revenge of their loss in ODI series.

The third game of the 5-match T20I series was conducted in Saint Lucia’s Darren Sammy Cricket Ground on Thursday, 14th November, 2024. The match started with England winning the toss and further deciding to bowl first.

The top five batsman of the West Indies batting order failed to show their dominance as they were knocked out, scores not even surpassing mere 10 runs. Following their departures, the Captain of the West Indies, Rovman Powell showcased his powerful knock of 54 runs, played the game at the strike rate of 131.71.

His valuable contribution with the support from Romario Shepherd and Alzarri Joseph helped the team in leading towards a defendable chase of 145 runs. Shepherd contributed 30 runs in 28 balls, hitting 1 six and 1 four, played the game at a strike rate of 107.14. Meanwhile, Joseph scored 21 runs in 19 deliveries, hitting three fours, played at a strike rate of 110.53.

Jamie Overton and Saqib Mahmood of England remained outstanding with their bowling as they took six wickets evenly between them and maintained their dominance over the batters of West Indies.

When England team came to bat, Alzarri Joseph tried to keep the momentum on their side by building a pressure among players, but it didn’t last long. Also, the West Indies team created several opportunities but failed to grab them.

The catch of Liam Livingstone dropped by Nicholas Pooran cost them the game as he played a massive knock of 39 runs in just 28 deliveries. His massive knock at the strike rate of 139.29 helped the team to chase down their target in just 19.1 overs. Sam Curran also contributed crucial 41 runs for his team, playing the game at a strike rate of 157.69, hitting 3 fours and 1 six.

Saqib Mahmood became the Player of the Match for taking 3 crucial wickets by giving away just 17 runs. He acknowledged the entire bowling unit and aimed at winning the remaining two games as well to win the series to complete a series with a clean sweep over West Indies.

The remaining two games will be played on 16th and 17th November, 2024 at Saint Lucia’s Darren Sammy Cricket Ground. Also, the fans of the Windies Cricket have shown their eagerness to see Windies winning the remaining two games following their 3 consecutive losses against England.
