Eastern Caribbean: The Meteorological Department has recently shared weather prediction for upcoming days. As per the update by the department, Potential Tropical Cyclone (PTC) 2 is bringing a couple thunderstorms around the southern Lesser Antilles and scattered fast moving showers around St Lucia and Martinique. Strong gusts can occur with these with all Windwards reporting strong gusts last few hours.
Although there has been recent clearing over part of the area this is expected to be filled in wee hours and occasional moderate to heavy showers and thunderstorms with gusty winds will impact the Windward Islands and Trinidad and Tobago especially early morning thru afternoon. Afternoon thunderstorms will affect Guyana.
Chances continue for intermittent showers late Wednesday with the ITCZ moist flow behind the system. Flash flood risk will remain elevated.
On Thursday fewer showers affect most of the islands except Trinidad and Tobago and Grenada where ITCZ moisture will continue occasional showers and isolated thunderstorms. The next tropical wave will bring showers and thunderstorms to Guyana whilst slowing down and merging with the 2nd behind it.
Friday morning, the new disturbance will bring showers and isolated thunderstorms to the Windwards/Trinidad and Tobago. Models indicate an upper trough will influence this system to prevent development but also, slow it down, pull it NW and cause rainfall rates to be higher later Friday and Saturday especially in the central to north Windwards.
Scattered heavy showers spread to Leewards and Virgin Islands/PR Saturday to Sunday. Few showers last into early Sunday in Windwards.
NHC has 30 percent on this system but the flash flood threat will be main concern with saturated soils on Windwards so pay attention to your met office reports for any alerts.
