UNGA 76th summit: Several nations called US government to lift sanctions from Cuba

Cuba: In the final session of the United Nations General Assembly, several nations came forward and demanded the end of sanctions imposed on Cuba by the US government. 

Belarus’ Minister of Foreign Affairs – Vladimir Makey repeated his nations’ support for the sisterly country as well as to the people of Cuba who have been living under an unfair economic blockade for past so many years now, due to a single State.’

The Foreign Minister of Syria – Faisal Mekdad, also condemned the US economic, commercial and financial blockade against the island country. 

In the mean time, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Grenada – Oliver Joseph, cited that Grenada reemphasises how counterproductive the blockade imposed by the United States on Cuba is. 

He further noted that the in-human socio-economic difficulties that it imposes on the people of that island, a nation that has provided immense humanitarian support to many amid the time of the COVID-19 outbreak. 

“However, that Caribbean nation is hindered in its full participation in the global economy by the US mechanism.” Adding to this, he also thanked Cuba for its solidarity and valuable participation and aid to Grenada, the entire region & to the world in the fight against the deadliest mutant and in many other fields. 

With this, Joseph once again called the US administration to uplift the sanctions so that the nation can grow and develop without any obstacles – into the financial, economic and commercial community. 

Under the order of Donald Trump – (2017-2021), the White House had launched more than 240 unilateral coercive measures & the sanctions against Cuba. So far, Joe Biden’s administration completely implements the same policy as of Trump.
