Two weeks on, 3 Catholic members abducted on Good Friday in Haiti released

Haiti: Earlier month, on the occasion of Good Friday, 3 Catholic members were abducted now released, officials disclosed. Those kidnappers had demanded a high ransom payment worth $1m (£722,000) after they kidnapped the group of three catholic members on 11 April.

However, seven other people, including a French nun and a French priest kidnapped in the town of Croix-des-Bouquets, live in captivity, officials revealed.

If we talk about the administration’s take then, the President of Haiti- Jovenel Moïse, has pledged to “do everything the government allows” to obtain their release.

“Three of the seven clergies captured on April 11 were rescued,” Father Loudger Mazile, spokesperson for the Bishop’s Conference of the Haiti nation, reported to the AFP on Thursday.

“The French ones were not released. There were no laypeople amongst those released,” he stated. It is unknown whether any payment has been paid.

The attack of the kidnap happened when the Catholic clergy were on their approach to the installation of a new parish priest.

A police authorization reported AFP that a gang summoning itself 400 Mazowo was most probably following the abduction.

Haiti has encountered several kidnappings, and the government is not able to take any action on it. People complain and complain, but there is no action which worries the population more.

In crime per-rate, Haiti’s stand on 69.92 and ranks 36th. (66 percent more than the US).

Haiti is an impoverished country and already a financial disaster zone with organized crime & abduction for payment out of command – now finds itself between a constitutional dilemma with vehement confrontations between anti-government protesters and the periodic police events.

Prez has failed in preventing law and order and economic position in the nation. Some locals reported that many youngsters have interlocked in crime-related employment due to lack of food and work.

Prominently, Crime is a critical and widespread problem at all levels of government in the nation. Although there has been exceptional growth since 2008, when Haiti was considered the world’s one of the most corrupt nations, there remains much room for advancement.
