Two residents of Jamaica charged guilty for smuggling cocaine

St James, Jamaica: Two residents of St James have been finally proven guilty and were arrested in connection to the incident of 2021. Jamaica’s residents were arrested for possessing, dealing, attempting to export and conspiracy to export cocaine. 

The two have been identified as Kediesha Johnson and Calvin Grant and the verdict was announced against them by Trial Judge Sasha-Marie Smith-Ashley on Tuesday. The verdict was proved right by the evidence shown by the prosecution that both the accused were aware that cocaine was packed inside the food packages. 

As per the details, Kediesha Johnson went to a courier company in Montego Bay to send a box to a person living in Canada and the box contained cheese puffs and plantain chips in which the authorities found nine ounces of cocaine. 

Subsequently, Johnson was asked about the cocaine found in the box to which she replied that Grant had given her the box to shit. Moreover, in order to protect himself, Malvin Grant stated he picked up those packages from a man but he failed to provide any details about that man. 

Therefore, the judge declared both Johnson and Grant guilty and postponed their sentence until 9th May in order to allow their preparation of social enquiry reports. The bails of the suspects were extended as well. 

Several residents of the community took to their official social media accounts and expressed their different views and perspectives on the matter. 

One person commented, “They are just now blaming each other, they were definitely up to some plan which has miserably failed now.”

Another person commented the following “God know, what these people keep on doing, I hope they realize their mistake to the soonest and take quick action.”

The residents of Jamaica have also requested the administration to impose strict actions so that a person thinks twice before trying to make any mistake. They have also asked the authorities to make diligent efforts, to ensure the safety and security of the nation.
