Trinidad man in coma after family confrontation; investigation underway

Trinidad and Tobago: Trinidad and Tobago Police Service is investigating the case of physical altercation which led a male victim to coma. The incident is reported to have taken place on 7th August, 2024.
As per the reports, the victim has been identified as a 55-year-old, who is a resident of Longdenville. He was reported to be at home with his family when he was involved in a dispute with a male relative at their premises. The incident was explored by his wife who found him lying in a drain of the property.
Notably, the victim was found to be covered with a sheet. Subsequently, the wife of the victim confronted the suspect who was also present there. Upon asking the suspect, he got scared and rushed into a room and locked himself in.
Following the incident, the condition of the victim came in the knowledge of his son who took his father immediately to the Chaguanas Health Facility. According to the details, the victim was treated and was later transferred to the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex at Mt Hope.
It was reported that the victim was in a critical condition and is presently in a coma. On the other hand, the authorities have arrested the suspect from the victim’s house after they received the information of a crime. The police officers are continuing with the process of investigation and have promised to prevail justice to the victim.
Though, the suspect argued with the authorities and tried to defend himself but he failed to save himself from the clutches of the authorities. The suspect was also taken to the Chaguanas Health Facility for medical attention before being taken under police custody at the Cunupia Police Station.
Following the incident, the authorities talked about the surge in crime rates and have ensured the citizens that they are taking stringent measures with a vision to enhance the safety and security of the country.

One person commented “This is so insane that how a family member can harm the other, good part on the authorities that they are taking actions. But something innovative needs to be done to curb crime rates.
