Trinidad and Tobago welcomed 113,807 visitors in first four months of 2024
It is a huge milestone for Trinidad and Tobago as the nation witnessed the arrival of 113,807 visitors from the month of January – April 2024. These figures mark an 8% year-on-year increase in the number of tourists arriving at the island nation.

Trinidad and Tobago: It is a huge milestone for Trinidad and Tobago as the nation witnessed the arrival of 113,807 visitors from the month of January – April 2024. These figures mark an 8% year-on-year increase in the number of tourists arriving at the island nation.
According to the UNWTO, “Arrivals are defined as visitors who visit a destination by air and spend at least 24 hours.” Notably, the tourism authority of Trinidad and Tobago revealed the data, emphasising the benefits made by the tourism sector in the first four months of the year 2024.
As per the data unveiled, the starting month of 2024 noted the arrival of 25,192 visitors from Trinidad and 1872 from Tobago, totalling 27,064. The month of February welcomed a maximum number of tourists, marking the arrival of 33,430 visitors from Trinidad and 1862 from Tobago, totalling 35,292.
The no of passengers visited in March 2024 includes, 27,355, marking the arrival of 25,672 from Trinidad and 1862 from Tobago. In the following month, 23,100 tourists arrived in Trinidad and 996 visited Tobago, totalling 24,096 visitors.
Moreover, the data shared by the tourism authority reveals that North America was Trinidad and Tobago’s main source market, with an average of 62% of total arrivals. Other notable source markets were CARICOM (15%) and Europe (17%).
The data also indicated the main purpose of the visitors to Trinidad. It revealed that 30% of tourists arrived to visit their friends and relatives. Meanwhile, 28% made their visit to Trinidad and Tobago to spend their vacation and leisure time. On the other hand, 11% of the visitors arrived in the island nation for business purposes and conferences.
According to the data, the inbound tourist arrivals to Trinidad by gender include 48% male and 52% female. These visitors also made a surge in the hotel sector of the island nation and elevated their business to greater heights.
The hotel occupancy in the first four months includes,
- January: 48%
- February: 65%
- March: 55%
- April: 50%
Moreover, for the month of April 2024, the average daily rate was TT$1,147 which represented an 8% year on year increase. Furthermore, when compared to April 2019, the average daily rate increased by 6%.
Trinidad and Tobago also welcomed several visitors via cruise which not only enhanced the tourism sector but also fostered the economic conditions of the nation. The 2023-24 cruise season saw a total of 36 calls bringing 78,202 passengers and 29,237 crew members to the destination.
Of the passengers arriving 27% opted for an organized or pre-booked tour, The 2023-24 cruise season concluded on 17th April 2024, marked by the inaugural call from island Sky.
