Trinidad and Tobago: Four murders were recorded in north and central Trinidad in just 24 hours.
The first murder was recorded around 12.45 am at Cipriani Avenue, Second Caledonia, Morvant of 43-year-old Ronnie Samuel, who was shot numerous times. The police authorities arrived at the crime scene immediately, and he was taken to Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex in Mt Hope, where he was announced dead.
After two hours, the police was informed of the other shooting incident at Temple Street in Arima. The officers stated that around 3 am, two men dressed in camouflage and armed with firearms broke into the house of Jose Mariano Acosta Bella.
After robbing Jose and his relatives of their cash and cellphones, the armed men had an argument with Bella, during which they shot him several times in his chest. He was then taken to the Arima District Hospital and lost his life while undergoing emergency surgery.
The third murder was reported at La Retreat Road in Arima at around 9:25 pm, where a 33-year-old Kendell John was with his family, when a blue Hyundai Tucson with two men stopped in front of his house, asking motor for a refrigerator.
When John came outside, and while having a dialogue with the driver, the passenger got out of the car and shot John several times. The man then got back into his vehicle and drove off.
The fourth murder took place at Esmeralda Road in Cunupia. The victims are identified as Darrius Roberts and Jabal Gibson, who were shot down numerous times.
Roberts died on the spot while Gibson was immediately taken to the hospital.
Trinidad and Tobago, in the past few weeks, has been witnessing an increase in murders leading to a high crime rate on the island.
