Trinidad and Tobago marks 62 years of diplomatic relations with Canada on Independence Day
On the occasion of the 62nd Anniversary of Trinidad and Tobago’s Independence, on the same day, another celebration was marked as Diplomatic Relations between Canada and Trinidad and Tobago also turned 62.

On the occasion of the 62nd Anniversary of Trinidad and Tobago’s Independence, on the same day, another celebration was marked as Diplomatic Relations between Canada and Trinidad and Tobago also turned 62.
Congratulating the administration of both the nations the authorities stated that “Canada was one of three countries” that immediately recognized the island nation of Trinidad and Tobago after they got Independence and the relationship between both the nations has flourished since then.
By being each other support in the time of need both the nations have put up a strong example of exemplary relations. Canada and Trinidad and Tobago have shared commitments to democracy and human rights, and have built a strong foundation.
Officials of Trinidad and Tobago shared, most recently, the cooperation in the several sectors which include women, peace and security has contributed immensely to the establishment of Trinidad and Tobago’s national action plan.
Further, the expansion of visa free travel has offered many citizens of Trinidad and Tobago a chance to grow and this decision has also contributed to stronger business and educational ties.
In addition, the Ministry of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs and the High Commission of Canada extended the wishes to Trinidad and Tobago on the joyous Independence Day and have shared a positive outlook to continuously working on building the excellent relations between the two countries.
Moreover, currently, Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago Keith Rowley is on his visit to the United States to get his medical tests done, which he gets done every year as a routine checkup. He left the country on September 1,2024 after celebrating the nations 62nd Anniversary of the Independence Day.
PM Rowley participated in the Parade ceremony along with his wife and also met the President of the nation and have announced that Minister Stuart Young will act as the Prime Minister during his absence.
