Jamaica: The Jamaica Tourism Ministry reopened for business, announcing the reopening of its airports and cruise ports following the passage of Hurricane Beryl. The island nation, which faced severe damage due to Tropical storm-force winds, is finally safe now as the Hurricane Warning has been discontinued.

The island nation also spared the worst of Beryl but the damages are still significant. Hurricane Beryl caused severe destruction, resulting in several damage to buildings and even the falling of trees.

Also, a small section of the roof of the passenger boarding pier of the Norman Manley International Airport was also reported to be damaged due to the heavy winds and rain of the Beryl. The airports were made shut on Tuesday night by the Government as a precautionary measure in order to avoid any mishappening and prevent travellers and staff from the harsh effects of Beryl.

As per the Jamaica Tourism Ministry, the reputation of the island nation for resilience continues as Hurricane Beryl moved past on 3rd July 2024. The hotels and resorts were prepared with all the precautions as staff and guests remained safe during the storm.

Notably, the Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay has already been opened at 6:00 pm on July 4. Along with that, the Norman Manley International Airport was also opened by today at 5:00 in the morning. The Ian Fleming International Airport in Ocho Rios is also currently open.

On the other hand, the cruise ports of Jamaica which are in Montego Bay, Ocho Rios and Falmouth have also been opened by the government. Therefore, the Tourism Ministry of Jamaica urged all the visitors to contact their travel advisors and airline provider for the latest updates before arriving at the airports. Moreover, the Ministry of Tourism also implemented the Tourism Emergency Operations Centre in preparation for Hurricane Beryl with a vision to ensure the protection of life and property. The efforts by the tourism ministry were highly appreciated by the citizens of the island nation as the ministers continued to monitor the development of Hurricane Beryl in order to prioritize the safety of the residents.
