Tobago Blue Food Festival is all set to return to the island nation on 20th October 2024, promising an array of delicacies to food enthusiasts. The festival is once again all set to offer all the attendees with a plethora of experiences, enhancing culinary delights and rich flavours of the country.

The Tobago Blue Food Festival is celebrated annually in the remote village of Bloody Bay to highlight the indigenous staple root dasheen. The term “Blue Food” is associated with the ground provision: Dasheen. It is a tall-growing tropical plant that resembles the ornamental elephant-ear plant and cocoyam.

Dasheen is called Blue Food by locals as some versions of the root vegetable turn varying shades of blue and indigo when it is cooked. This culinary festival is the beautiful balance of innovation, creativity, community and food which promises to provide all the attendees with an unforgettable experience.

This festival is a great opportunity to attract a large number of visitors and offer them a variety of dishes made from blue food, such as soups, stews, pies, and desserts. It is also a huge platform for the local citizens to showcase and sell their handmade crafts and souvenirs, promoting the history and culture of Tobago.

The Tobago Blue Food Festival is a fun and unique way to experience the island’s culture and cuisine, and provide the unforgettable experience to all the foodies and culture enthusiasts alike. The villages of L’Anse Fourmi, Parlatuvier and Bloody Bay started celebrating this festival in 1998 to commemorate the versatility of the dasheen.

And, since then the festival has become a staple on the cultural calendar Tobago which brings large number of food enthusiasts to the country. Last year, the Tobago Festivals Commission celebrated 25 years of Tobago Blue Food Festival and its successful offerings.

This festival hosts series of activities and events for all the attendees, giving the local citizens an opportunity to showcase their talent, abilities and skills. The festival will host cooking competition where the local chefs will display their culinary talent and a team of experienced chefs will choose the winner out of all the participants.

While extending welcome to the local citizens and travellers for the Tobago Food Festival, the authorities stated that from delicious food to vibrant and enthralling music, it offers an experience like no other.
