At a relevant ceremony held at the Argyle International Airport, the mentioned shipment was handed over to the officials responsible. The shipment arrived at SVG on Wednesday, July 10, 2024.

Ichiro Mimura, Chief Representative of the JICA expressed that the consignment was an attempt to support the essential needs and commodities of the people under the effects of hurricane Beryl.

“This shipment is a testament to our commitment to aid in the recovery and resilience of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines during this challenging time,” Mimura stated.

The shipment was received by Kenson Stoddard, Deputy Director of the National Emergency Management Organisation (NEMO) and Sandy Peters Phillips, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs along with other officials.

The essential components for the relief supplies comprised of 200 sleeping pads, 500 foldable tanks, 50 tarpaulins, and 100 large tents.

The Government of St Vincent and the Grenadines appreciated the support provided by JICA, and The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trades have extended their extreme gratitude on behalf of the SVG government, for the relief supplies. The sense of gratitude was for the Government and all the people of Japan.

The helping hand extended by the Agency is expected to notably strengthen NEMO’s capacity and range to provide necessary assistance to the people and communities affected by the Beryl, nurturing the strong bond and friendship shared by both Japan and St Vincent and the Grenadines.

This oversea collaboration underscores the importance and crucial role played by international partnerships in dealing with factors like disaster response, also uplifting the further fortifying diplomatic bond between the two nations and how the citizens are profited by the same.
