St Lucia: On Sunday (April 17, 2022), the world celebrated the festival of Easter. The festival celebrates the resurrection of Jesus Christ. This resurrection proved that he is the true son of God, who defeated evil and death before ascending to heaven.
Unlike another festival, Christmas, there is no fixed date to celebrate the occasion of Easter. As per Bible, the festival is celebrated three (3) days later the crucifixion of Jesus by Romans and concludes with the “Passion of Christ”, which begins with 40 days of fasting – Lent and is finished by the Holy Week.
On this auspicious occasion, St Lucian Prime Minister Philip J Pierre and Deputy Prime Minister Ernest Hilaire extended their wishes and shared their celebrations with the general public.
Prime Minister Pierre noted, “Today at Mass, I celebrated the resurrection of Christ, a sign of the hope and love that we have in our Saviour. Happy Easter, everyone.”
He also shared the further proceeding of the day and stated that he spent the rest of the day with the ministers to craft the 2022-2023 budget, which would be delivered on April 26, 2022.
“The rest of the day is being spent with my dedicated staff crafting the 2022/23 Budget Statement, which I will deliver on April 26, 2022,” PM mentioned.
Furthermore, he noted, “As we begin another week, let us remember to live in hope, knowing that all things are possible with God as our guide.”
Akin to this, Deputy Prime Minister Hilaire also wished the public and shared that he celebrated the festival with the Parishioners and Parish Priest of the St Benedict Parish.
Deputy PM mentioned, “Today, I joined the Parishioners and Parish Priest of the St. Benedict Parish to celebrate Easter Sunday Service.”
“”Easter is meant to symbolise hope, renewal, and new life.” “Easter states you may put truth in a grave, but it would not stay there.” “Easter is when God turned the inevitability of death into the invincibility of life.” “He has risen.”,” he concluded.
