St Lucia: Debate on the Estimates of Expenditure begin on March 17

St Lucia: The debate on the Estimates of Expenditure of St Lucia would begin on Wednesday, March 17.

Prime Minister & Minister for Finance, Economic Growth, Job Creation, External Affairs and the Public Service-Honourable Allen Chastanet will present Saint Lucia’s Estimates of Revenue and Expenditure for 2021/2022 on Tuesday, March 16, 2021,

This will follow the inauguration of The Sixth Session of the Eleventh Parliament on Tuesday morning where the respective members of the House of Assembly will gather at 10:00 a.m., and Members of the Senate will gather at 10:30 a.m., after which both the Houses will be in joint session to get the Throne Speech from His Excellency, the Governor-General, Sir Emmanuel Neville Cenac.

The Standing Finance Committee will meet in a closed session at 2:00 p.m. to review the Estimates of Revenue & Expenditure, following which at 4:00 p.m. the Prime Minister Allen Chastanet will lay the Estimates before the House of Assembly.

The Debate on the respective Estimates of Expenditure will begin on Wednesday, March 17, 2021, from 9:00 a.m.

The government of St Lucia urged the people of St Lucia that, “please note that in keeping with the protocols issued by the authorities for management of the coronavirus virus (COVID 19) crisis and to ensure that there are established specific protocols, members of the public will not be allowed inside the Chamber Gallery during the Sittings.”

The COVID-19 update of St Lucia reported that, On Sunday, March 14, the Ministry of Health received confirmation of 22 new cases of COVID-19, 19 recoveries, and four COVID-19-related deaths.

Late Saturday, the Ministry reported 42 new coronavirus cases, 18 recoveries, and three deaths related to the virus. Whereas the authorities stated, The Ministry of Health will continue the roll-out of the Oxford AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine despite suspensions in some EU countries. The Ministry will continue monitoring the investigation and provide updates as received.
