St Kitts and Nevis Tourism Authority focuses on culinary education

Basseterre, St Kitts and Nevis: The twin-island Federation of St Kitts and Nevis’ Tourism Authority participated in the culinary education activity at the Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College.

According to the official update by the St Kitts Tourism Authority, Kittitian Heartbeat, the St Kitts Tourism Authority joins forces with Chef Pino Luongo, Candice Kimmel, and the culinary division at the Clarence Fitzroy Bryant College, forging a path towards culinary excellence.

Accordingly, the year 2019 marked the birth of this ground-breaking partnership, allowing culinary students in St Kitts to train under the mentorship of Chef Pino Luongo, a close collaborator of the late Anthony Bourdain during the St Kitts-Nevis Restaurant Week.

Kittitian Heartbeat further praised the chef for his work and dedication. Chef Pino’s dedication to the development of these students didn’t end there. In 2020, despite the challenges posed by the global pandemic, Chef Pino made a visit to St Kitts to continue his involvement in the student’s progress, resulting in the successful execution of three internships.

“With the support of such culinary legends, the Authority has created a transformative experience for these future culinary stars,” the Tourism Authority stated.

Furthermore, it added that it is honoured to share a glimpse of the Authority’s steadfast mission in shaping the chefs of tomorrow.

This step by the government and tourism authority was claimed to be ‘revolutionary for culinary education’. It is believed that this step will help the interested population in enhancing their skills in the sector, increasing the scope.

Culinary Education has been considered to be essential and important if someone wants to become a chef. It helps an individual focus on food safety and hygiene, mastering essential skills, opening greater opportunities and building ancillary skills.
