St Kitts and Nevis: PM Terrance Drew holds bilateral talks with Ambassador of Singapore and Japan

Basseterre, St Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister of the Federation of St Kitts and Nevis – Dr Terrance Drew, is currently on an official visit to Trinidad and Tobago to attend the 50th-anniversary celebration of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM). He will be there from July 3 and 5, 2023.
During his visit, PM Drew had productive and fruitful sessions with the government heads of other Caribbean States.
Recently, on July 3, 2023 (Monday), the Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis participated in bilateral talks with the Ambassador of Singapore to CARICOM, Karen Tan. The major focus of the conversation was on the common interest of both countries and emphasised strengthening the existing relationship.
Prime Minister expressed pleasure in meeting with the Ambassador and stated that he was glad that he got the opportunity to interact with Tan. While extending his gratitude, Dr Drew wrote, “Held bilateral discussions with Her Excellency Karen Tan, Ambassador of Singapore to CARICOM, and Ambassador of Japan, His Excellency Yukata Matsubara earlier today.”
He added, “I took the opportunity to share with them the Government’s thrust to transform our twin-island Federation into a Sustainable Island State and reinforced the necessity of partnerships and cooperation to achieve the tenets of the energy transition, digital transformation, water management, and food security.”
According to the government of St Kitts and Nevis, Prime Minister also met with the Japanese Ambassador to CARICOM, Yukata Matsubara. While having a discussion, Prime Minister Drew was informed about the implications of the Fukushima Nuclear Disaster that occurred over 12 years ago.
It is worth mentioning that during both engagements, Prime Minister had an interaction about the commitment to deepen and strengthen the bilateral relationships. He also expressed the thrust of the government of St Kitts and Nevis to become the first Sustainable Island State within the region. Further, he stated that under his guidance and mentorship, the government would keep its focus on achieving success in some sectors such as energy transition, digital transformation, food security and water management.
Following these meetings, PM Terrance Drew attended the opening ceremony of the 45th Regular Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of the CARICOM. The meeting started on July 3, 2023, at 4:30 PM.
