St Kitts and Nevis: The nation recently has been witnessing an increase in COVID-19 cases. As of April 18, 2022, the count of active cases in the twin-island Federation has increased to six (6), as per the data by the health ministry, till 6 PM. According to the health ministry, the SARS-CoV-2 virus infections have been witnessing an upwards trend in St Kitts and Nevis.
Out of the total, four (4) active cases are present in St Kitts, while Nevis has the remaining two (2) active cases of COVID-19.
As per the Health Ministry, on March 18, the toll of the confirmed cases of the deadly virus remained at two (2).
However, in the Federation, as many as 43 people lost their lives because of the virus, as data shared on March 18, 2022. 36 deaths were reported from St Kitts, and the remaining seven (7) have been recorded from Nevis.
The pandemic emerged in St Kitts and Nevis on March 2021, and since then, a total of 5,561 people have been exposed to the viral infection caused by the deadly virus. Out of the total confirmed cases, a total of 847 were reported from Nevis, and the remaining 4,714 cases have been reported from St Kitts.
As per the health ministry, so far, as many as 5,512 people have been discharged and recovered from the novel coronavirus; out of them, St Kitts health facilities have healed a total of 4,674 patients, while from Nevis, 838 people have been cured of the viral infection.
However, on Sunday, March 18, 2022, zero (0) new recoveries were reported from the twin Island Federation.
As per the status of the vaccination, till March 13, 2022, around 83.0 percent of the citizens of the Federation are partially vaccinated, while 77.9 percent are fully immunised against the COVID-19 infection. A total of 9.8 percent of the total eligible population received their booster shots.
