Virgin Island: The Virgin Islands Tourism Authority unveiled the schedule of activities for the 70th anniversary of the Virgin Islands Emancipation Festival. It is one of the biggest cultural fetes which offers all its visitors a wonderful experience.
The festival will offer several activities to all the attendees, including pageants, food fairs, local and international musical shows, parades, colourful costumes, gospel concerts, and many more.
The Virgin Islands Emancipation Festival is a unique celebration of the rich culture and history of the island through delicious Caribbean delicacies, diverse music, pageantry and traditions. It is also a great platform for promoting the vibrant culture and traditions of the island nation.
The activities to celebrate the festival will run from 14th July to 10th August 2024. The activities that will be conducted include a cultural food fair, pageant, J’ouvert, Soca night and many more. All these activities promise to promote the rich cultural heritage of the nation.

14th July 2024 – Prince and Princess Show
26th July 2024 – Festival Warm-up Tramp
28th July 2024 – Mister and Miss Junior British Virgin Islands Pageant
29th July 2024 – Festival Village Opening Gospel Explosion
1st August 2024 – Traditional Torch Light Procession Big People Party
2nd August 2024 – Cultural Food Fair International Reggae Night
3rd August 2024 – Cultural Food Fair International Soca Night
4th August 2024 – Miss British Virgin Islands Pageant
5th August 2024 – Rise and Shine Tramp August Monday Parade East End/Long Look Festival Activities
7th August 2024 – East End J’ouvert East End/Long Look Cultural Experience
8th August 2024 – Carrot Bay Cultural Fiesta Fisherman’s Tournament
9th August 2024 – Carrot Bay Cultural Fiesta Cultural Games
10th August 2024 – Carrot Bay Cultural Fiesta Aquatic Sports
The tourism authority will conduct sports activities such as Donkey races, Plait Pole, Lime and spoon races, Grease poles, Kayak races, swimming races, and many others, with a vision to promote the mental and physical health of the people participating in the event.
Such festival is a great way of attracting tourists to the island nation which will directly boost the economic conditions of the country, leading to generating huge amounts of revenues for the island nation.
