Saint Lucia: The Public Service, Home Affairs, Labour and Gender Affairs Minister – Dr Virginia Albert-Poyotte, in her quest to assess the working conditions of law enforcement officers, paid an official visit to the Marine Unit compound at Vigie in Castries.
The Minister was accompanied by the Commissioner of Police Milton Desir and the Permanent Secretary of Home Affairs, Dr Elizabeth Bailey, among other officials. The tour was led by Commander of the Marine Unit Inspector Kendry Frederick. He expressed gratitude to the Government of Saint Lucia for its commitment to ensuring suitable working conditions.
Dr Virginia Albert-Poyotte thanked the officers for their reliable service to the nation despite challenges. The Minister advised that the most immediate of their needs ought to be urgently addressed through the relevant channels of the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force. She pledged the government’s support to the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force despite the constraints of resources. The visit took place on August 11, 2022.
Poyotte is a politician of Saint Lucia and former veteran educator. She has been working as the Public Service, Home Affairs, Labour and Gender Affairs. Virginia Albert-Poyotte was elected at the Saint Lucian General Election as the representation in the House of Assembly for the constituency of Bobonneau as a Saint Lucia Labour Party candidate.
