Saint Lucia: PM Philip J Pierre congratulates Taiwan for 113th Double Ten

Philip J Pierre, the Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, shared his words of congratulations to the citizens and government of Taiwan, also known as the Republic of China, on the occasion of the 113th Double Ten. The words were shared by the PM on behalf of the island nation on Thursday, 10 October.

Double Ten Day is the national day of the Republic of China (Taiwan), which is dedicated to the commemoration of the revolution of 1911. The day is celebrated annually, and in 2024, the nation observed this day for the 113th time.

PM Philip J Pierre said, “As Taiwan celebrates this momentous occasion, Saint Lucia proudly stands alongside its longstanding partner and ally. The strong diplomatic relations between our two nations have been characterised by mutual respect, trust, and unwavering cooperation over the years.”

The words were released straight from the Office of the Prime Minister. PM Philip J. Pierre congratulated Taiwan officially on this crucial historic day as a partner and ally. Both countries share a long-standing relationship in terms of diplomacy.

The relationship of the nations also resulted in various projects and developments in terms of human development, infrastructure, education, agriculture, economic growth, and more. Taiwan’s contribution in Saint Lucia made some major impact and resulted in the betterment of the citizens in many aspects.

The island nations of Taiwan and Saint Lucia came up with initiatives like the Constituency Development Programme. This programme is dedicated to the development and progress of the local communities while building public infrastructure.

The technical expertise of Taiwan, the farmers, and the agriculture sector of Saint Lucia enabled them to build the capacity to enhance sustainable crop production. The youth and vulnerable groups of the country also benefit from this tie-up and knowledge-sharing in terms of future building with the help of several training projects and scholarships.

The Prime Minister also mentioned, “Saint Lucia reaffirms its unwavering support for Taiwan in the face of geopolitical pressures. We believe that Taiwan, like all nations, is entitled to self-determination and the right to chart its own path toward peace and prosperity.”

In answer to the words of the Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, the President of Taiwan, Lai Ching-te, expressed his gratitude. President Lai Ching-te also appreciated Saint Lucia for standing in favour of his nation on international platforms.

Recently, a delegation from Saint Lucia met President Lai Ching-te, and they had a discussion on some major points. The delegation was joined by Speaker Claudius J. Francis and Senate President Alvina Reynolds. President Lai talked about the cooperation of both nations in various fields.
