Saint Lucia: 17 more scholarships were presented to young Saint Lucians as the Ministry of Education continues on its quest to have at least one person per household in Saint Lucia with a university degree.
The successful candidates with full or partial scholarships will all undertake studies in varying fields at Monroe College, Saint Lucia Campus. The awardees met with Minister for Education Shawn Edward and officers of the HRD Unit of the Ministry this week, ahead of the commencement of their studies.
Earlier, The Ministry of Education, through the Curriculum and Materials Development Unit (CAMDU), held a prize-giving ceremony for the National Schools’ Science and Technology Fair as well as the IT/Digital Literacy video competition on Wednesday, 28th September 2022.
The National Science and Technology fair is organised once a year with entries from the infant to tertiary level, and it showcases the students’ innovation, research and experimentation in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) to the public and all stakeholders in Education.
The National Science Fair allows students to better understand the issues which impact Saint Lucia, the Caribbean and the world. Some students with winning entries have participated in regional Trinidad regional competitions in past years.
In addition, prizes were awarded to the students who participated in The Information Technology/ Digital Literacy video competition. The competition was organised to raise awareness and promote the proper use of technological devices among students and challenged participants to create a video highlighting best practices.
