Saint Lucia celebrate Sneakers Day, promoting healthy and active lifestyle
Saint Lucia joined National Insurance Corporation in their initiative of promoting healthy and active lifestyles in the workplace by supporting Sneakers Day on Wednesday.

Castries, Saint Lucia: Saint Lucia joined National Insurance Corporation in their initiative of promoting healthy and active lifestyles in the workplace by supporting Sneakers Day on Wednesday. The day was celebrated with a vision to motivate the corporate community to be more active by increasing their daily step count.
Saint Lucia’s department of Ministry of Health, Wellness and Elderly Affairs again partnered with NIC to host this activity under the broader “Saint Lucia Moves” campaign. This awareness campaign aims to raise awareness about the significance of physical activity among workers, especially those who are in sedentary roles, in order to promote a healthier and good life across Saint Lucia.

On Sneakers Day, the employees were motivated to wear their usual work attire by pairing it with sneakers rather than their regular formal footwear. This simple yet impactful change was used as a visual reminder to every individual to stay active and be mindful of one’s health. The initiative aims to encourage employees and their employers of corporate world of Saint Lucia to join the movement and take crucial action towards fostering the health of their workforce.
Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, Philip J Pierre also participated in this crucial initiative and shared the glimpses of the celebration of Sneakers Day on his official Facebook account. He stated that he can attest to all the benefits of a trained and healthy body because he exercises regularly. He further asked all the citizens of the Saint Lucia to participate in this health awareness campaign and step out together for a healthier tomorrow.
“Today my colleagues and I joined the National Insurance Corporation for Sneaker Day to advocate for healthy and active lifestyles in the workplace,” noted PM Pierre.
Moreover, several participants of Saint Lucia brought their A-game, they captured their Sneaker Day experiences by taking selfies and showcased their love for movement and fitness. The participants shared their experience on social media with the hashtag #sneakersday2024 and stated that their day was filled with energy, fun and team spirit which together focused towards a healthier and active lifestyle.
