Safe in Nature Programme to boost Dominica’s tourism sector

Dominica: The tourism sector of Dominica has been on set back due to the global pandemic; to revive the tourism industry government is to initiate the Safe in Nature Programme.
Reopening of tourism in Dominica can be challenging in the time of the pandemic, but the Safe in Nature Programme’s objectives can be proved as a boon for the elevation in the nation’s economy.
Prime Minister Dr. Roosevelt Skerrit announced, “Safe in Nature programmme is developed to provide tourists with an option to escape to the nature island,” in his weekly show.
Permanent Secretary of Ministry of Tourism, Ms.Lisa Valmond, stated: “Under the Safe in Nature Programme, visitors can spend the quarantine period in a private certified facility.”
Furthermore, Tourism Minister added, the aim of the programme is to stimulate travel in the nation, aid those stakeholders whose source of income depends upon tourism and, to maintain the health and safety of people as a priority while we welcome and they enjoy in Dominica.
This programmme gives complete assurance to the travelers that they can build their confidence in safe traveling in Dominica.
Director of Tourism, Mr. Colin Piper, discussed the protocols that will ensure the safety of visitors under the Safe in Nature Programme.
Tourism Director added, “As safety is the priority, The fundamental protocols of COVID-19 (like wearing masks, social-distancing, sanitizers) must be followed, then COVID-19 point percent will implement operation on the ground, Property managers will host the guest and make sure they have Day-5, PCR Test.“
Additionally, Property managers keep an eye on all the activities happening onsite and offsite, that managers are completely responsible for all the maintenance of the regulations.
Tourism Minister asserted Safe in Nature Programme begins right after the tourists visit the Douglas Charles Airport. She stated that after passing customs, immigration the tourists could sit in the “safe in nature” taxi and reach their settlement.
