The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force conducted a meeting with stakeholders to combat the rate of crime, ensuring the safety and security of citizens. The meeting took place on Thursday, 14 December 2023.

During the meeting, the talks aim to discuss the current crime rate and finding out the possible interventions and outcomes in order to tackle the growing crime.

The activity was initiated by the Commissioner of Police, Crustia Descartes-Pelius. The meeting included the presence of members of various organizations including,

  • The business fraternity
  • The arts community
  • Youth groups
  • Government agencies
  • Medical professionals
  • Law enforcement entities and other groups.

At the same time, the members of the faith-based organizations evaluated the causes of crime and measures that can be implemented to fight against those crimes.

The first phase of the activity formed a consultation, which was geared towards creating a Crime Action Plan.

Notably, the collaborations with such organizations would not only see an immediate social intervention but also long-term measures, such as educational reform and opportunities.

Moreover, the Commissioner of the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force extended their gratitude to all the participants who took part in the venture.

He added that this collaboration will lead them towards creating a safe and secure nation for the citizens.

Not just limited to this, but the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force via their active social media handle, continues to update about the regular activities or exercises being conducted by the police personnel, they also share details about the activities that police force is conducting in order to curb the ongoing crime rate.

This is not the first time that the Royal Saint Lucia Force has called the staff meeting. It is to be specifically mentioned that, during the meeting, the talks were mainly focused on ensuring the stakeholders that the security measures will be thoroughly implemented and the safety of general public will be priority measure for the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force.
