Rotary Club of Barbados West opens scholarship applications for 2024/2025 academic year

Rotary Club of Barbados West has just launched its scholarship application for the next academic year 2024/2025, presenting a great chance for young and motivated students from Barbados to continue their education.

It is a tuition and educational support scholarship in the amount of BDS $5,000 yearly, offered to the students who exemplify academic achievement, and at the same time, can benefit from the financial assistance.

Eligibility Criteria

Various conditions that are required by the applicant before they can be considered for this scholarship include age. The scholarship is only for those who are aged 16-20 years. Moreover, the candidates must be registered at a university for the academic year 2024/2025 and have passed all their previous years.

The scholarship is limited strictly to the Caribbean university, which points at the fact that the Rotary Club aims at the development of the region as well as improvement of the educational sphere.

Concentration on Barbados’ Development Requirements

Noted that in accordance with the goals of the Rotary Club to support the development of the community, preference will be given to applicants who are studying those disciplines that are seen by this country as critical to the development of Barbados.

This focus is to ensure that the educational grant agrees with the nations agenda to ensure that funds that are allocated to education beneficiaries are useful to the country.

Application Process

Any student who is interested in gaining the scholarship should show his or her ability academically and demonstrate the panel that he or she has the need to be funded. This requirement helps to ensure that the award goes to deserving students some of whom may not be able to pay for tertiary education.

Application forms are available at the Tertiary Section of the Ministry of Education, Technological and Vocational Training (METVT), on Constitution Road, St Michael at the Elsie Payne Complex.

The forms can be accessed from Mondays to Fridays in the following timetable: 8:15 am to 4:30 pm. For added convenience, applicants can also access and submit their forms online through the Ministry’s website at http://www.mes.gov.bb

Deadline for Submission

The dully completed application forms are to be returned latest by Monday 26th August 2024. The proforma for the online submission of applications is available on the university’s website.

The candidates are advised to complete the same and submit them online well in advance to avoid any last-minute rush or technical glitches that may leave them disqualified on technical grounds such as non-compliance with the said rules and regulations of the university.
