Prez Irfaan Ali addresses Guyanese and talks about public interest topics

Georgetown, Guyana: President Irfaan Ali recently addressed the general public of the country. While doing so, he said that the Government is building a Guyana that will be technologically advanced decades ahead of its time.

According to the government update, the President made the statement while delivering feature remarks at the opening ceremony of the newest Teleperformance branch of Guyana on Middle and Thomas streets.

The Head of State spoke extensively of his Government’s plans to develop technologically, including through a ‘one card’ system that will qualify persons to be able to store their financial, health and personal information on a single card.

President Ali also lauded Teleperformance for its commitment to Guyana and its trust in the country’s economy and the potential of its people. Teleperformance Guyana currently employs around 1500 Guyanese; the company is set to add 1000 more in the upcoming future with the addition of the new branch.

As per the update, Attorney General and Legal Affairs Minister Anil Nandlall and Tourism, Industry, and Commerce Minister – Oneidge Walrond were also at the event.

Earlier, on Monday afternoon, Dr Irfaan Ali inspected the ongoing construction site of Aiden by Best Western, a new boutique hotel on Robb and Oronoque streets. During the visit, President Ali was taken on a guided tour of the nine-storey building and updated on the progress.

The hotel will have 149 ‘smart’ rooms, a sky lounge, a courtyard, a pool and other amenities when completed. The hotel is being built by Arimu Investments, a locally-owned company and is on track to be completed in the first quarter of 2024.

Dr Irfaan Ali also met with senior officials of PAL Aerospace at the State House in Georgetown. Roger Mombourquette and William Walton accompanied the Canadian Ambassador to Guyana, Mark Berman and Counsellor and Senior Trade Commissioner at Global Affairs Canada, Jake Thomas.

PAL Aerospace is a Canadian aerospace and defence company focusing on intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) solutions. Tourism, Industry and Commerce Minister Oneidge Walrond and Director of Presidential Affairs Marcia Nadir-Sharma were also at the meeting.
