Dominica: 45.6 per cent of the targeted population is fully vaccinated
The National Epidemiologist – Dr Shalauddin Ahmed, while providing COVID-19 update, informed that a total of 51.8 per cent of the targeted population (53,281) is still unvaccinated while more than 45.6 per cent of the targeted population is fully vaccinated.

Roseau, Dominica: The National Epidemiologist – Dr Shalauddin Ahmed, while providing COVID-19 update, informed that a total of 51.8 per cent of the targeted population (53,281) is still unvaccinated while more than 45.6 per cent of the targeted population is fully vaccinated.
Dr Ahmed noted that in between the age group of 12 -17 years, 99 per cent of the population is unvaccinated, while only 1 per cent is vaccinated as the Dominican government has started giving COVID-19 vaccine doses from the month of September to the teenage group.
In between the age group of 18 -35, a total of 70 per cent population is unvaccinated, while around 30 per cent are vaccinated. On the other hand, in the age group of 36 -65 years, more than 30 per cent are vaccinated while more than 65 per cent are unvaccinated.
Dr Ahmed noted that as per the COVID-19 vaccination statistics, among the population who is above 65 years, around 50 per cent are vaccinated while more than 50 per cent are unvaccinated.
He informed that a total of 58 individuals have tested positive for the contagious viral disease. With this, the total number of active cases has risen to 445 as of October 22, 2021. Out of which,
The total number of COVID patients who recovered has increased to 4099, while a total of 30 individuals have lost their lives to the deadliest mutant.
The Health Ministry of Dominica has also urged the citizens to come forward and take their jabs of the COVID-19 vaccine so as to achieve the target of herd immunity and ensure their safety as well as of their loved ones.
