Police officials of Saint Lucia launches investigation into latest homicide case

The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force has launched a probe into the recent homicide case reported on Sunday, December 31, 2023.
While responding to the report of stabbing on Manoel Street, Castries, the Criminal Investigation Department, rushed to the spot and traced a male victim who was being attended to by the officers of the Saint Lucia Fire Services.
The victim has been identified as 30-year-old, Shane Edwin and a resident of Morne Fortune, Castries. Subsequently, the victim was taken to the Owen King European Unit (OKEU) Hospital, where he was announced dead by the doctors on duty and the other medical practitioners.
Moreover, the details about the suspect have not been found yet but the authorities have ensured that they will try their best to ensure that the justice will be delivered in this case.
It is to be noted, some more cases have been reported by the authorities of Saint Lucia in the last days, as the higher ranked officers arrested a man for possessing weapon components in Ti-Colon, Castries.
The Police personnel have requested Saint Lucians that if they know anything about this incident that they can contact the nearest police station. The anonymous reporting can also be done by utilizing the crime hotline (555) and the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force crime hotline app, which is available in Google play store.
Further, the officers attached to the Traffic Department, Criminal Investigations Department, Bicycle Patrol Unit and the Special Services Unit responded to the matter and the team conducted a search exercise at the house of 37-year-old Marvin Nestor Budhoo and a resident of Ti-Colon, Castries.
During the ongoing exercise, the officials discovered two pistol magazines and seized them. The suspect has been identified as Marvin Budhoo, who was arrested for the possession of component parts of a weapon.
The following day, the victim was taken to the First District Court in Castries, where he was granted the bail with a sum of ten thousand dollars (XCD10000.00) cash or some suitable surety.
Furtherment, the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force is committed to ensuring the people whosoever is engaged in criminal activity are given punishment for their crimes.
It is to be hereby added that the arrest of the suspect in this case came following a crime eradication drive initiated by the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force. This drive will undoubtedly be going to bring positive outcome for the police force in their mission to curb the growing crime rate across the nation.
