Bahamas: Prime Minister of Bahamas Hubert Minnis congratulated Iram Lewis for becoming Minister of Youth, Sports, and Culture.
Prime Minister of Bahamas Hubert Minnis stressed the necessity and responsibility of sustained and collegial dialogue with youth, sports, cultural groups, and organizations at the new minister of youth ceremony.
PM Minnis stated that, Yesterday at the swearing-in ceremony of the new Minister of Youth, Sports and Culture, Hon. Iram Lewis, Prime Minister Minnis, stressed the necessity and responsibility of sustained and collegial dialogue with youth, sports, cultural groups, and organizations.
“I invite you to immediately engage in sustained outreach to the Ministry’s many stakeholders,” stated the PM Minnis.
Who is Iram Lewis?
Iram Lewis is a former Bahamian sprinter. Mr. Lewis is the president of the Grand Bahama Amateur Athletic Association. He also participated in the 1996 Summer Olympics and the 2000 Summer Olympics as a team member of the men’s four × 100 m relay crew.
Minister Lewis was sworn in on Monday at the Office of the Governor-General, One Montagu Place.
Prime Minister Minnis added, “I am pleased that the Hon. Iram Lewis has accepted the appointment as Minister of Youth, Sports, and Culture.”
A resident added, “Congratulations, Mr. Lewis! Well deserving on this appointment.” By making a minister of Youth, Sports, and Culture will enhance this sector of the nation.
On the other hand, The Prime Minister’s Delivery Unit (PMDU) Annual Report 2020 highlighted increased access to preschool education. It also demonstrated a significant decrease in the number of murders and armed robberies, whereas substantial improvement in the process of renewing a business license.
The restoration of parks and tax breaks for Over-the-Hill communities; and more opportunities for land ownership are going to prove boon for the future of the Bahamas.
Moreover, the Cabinet Office has announced that Mrs. Pakeisa Parker-Edgecombe, MP, has been appointed Minister of State for Disaster Preparedness, Management, and Reconstruction.
