Prime Minister Mia Mottley of Barbados has extended an invitation to her citizens for the 57th Independence Day Parade on Thursday, 30th November 2023. The Parade is scheduled to start at 8:00 am AST to initiate the nation’s 57th Independence Day celebrations.

Prime Minister Mia Mottley took to Twitter to invite citizens to the event, explaining that it would be a parade of uniformed organisations which will march to the Carlton Cricket Ground.

Citizens will also be able to avail a free shuttle service from the Golden Square Freedom Park. The shuttle will carry passengers to the Usain Bolt Sports Complex for the Independence Day Parade itself. the shuttle will be operational from 6:15 am till 7:30 am.

The shuttle will also carry citizens back to the Golden Square Park following the completion of the parade and the departure of the President Sandra Mason and Prime Minister Mia Mottley.

The announcement that the 2023 Independence Day Parade would not be organized at the Kensington Oval this year, but would be held at the Usain Bolt Sports Complex was met with mixed reactions by the public.

Some citizens were worried about the size of the Usain Bolt Sports Complex and whether it would be able to accommodate the massive crowd that is likely to make its way to the event.

Other citizens believe that changing venues is an excellent idea as it brings the festivities surround the parade to different regions each year, adding to the excitement of the event.

Regardless of which side one falls on, one can not deny the fact that the day is monumental for the nation as it celebrates it freedom and sovereignty.

As is the case each year, the celebrations are expected to be in full flow as the parade passes through key landmarks, while the crowd gets to witness the entire event.
