Basseterre: St Kitts & Nevis Prime Minister Dr Timothy Harris highlight that StKittsandNevis all society policy will assist in overcoming the drastic impacts of the COVID-19 virus. He further once again reminded the general public to abide by the COVID health protocols and guidelines to be safe.
PM Harris wrote on his Facebook post, “The #stkittsandnevis all society policy will help us overcome the challenges of the #COVID19 pandemic and the destabilizing impact of the #OmicronVariant”.
“Citizens and residents must continually wear masks, clean hands and frequently used surfaces. Those who are eligible should #getvaccinatedtobeprotected”.
The COVID-19 statistics in St Kitts and Nevis:
The infections are rising in the twin-island Federation as it is experiencing the fourth wave of the deadliest COVID-19 mutant. On January 6, 2022, 238 cases were recorded in St Kitts and Nevis in just 24 hours, now having around 930 active cases.
Since the pandemic started, St Kitts and Nevis has recorded a total of 3904 confirmed cases of the COVID-19, of which 3297 were reported in St Kitts, and Nevis and the remaining 607 were recorded in Nevis island.
Meanwhile, at least twenty-eight people lost their lives to the mutant, whereas 2946 recovered from the virus. On the other hand, 81.6% of individuals received their first dose of the vaccine, and 76% have taken their required number of the vaccine doses and are now fully inoculated.
Around 6.4 percent of the eligible population has taken their booster shots. The twin-island Federation is also vaccinating its children population, of which 16.8% are partially vaccinated with one dose, and 14.4% are fully immunized with taking a second dose of the vaccine.
As per the report, in total, 55,686 doses have been administered, of which 42,402 were administered in St Kitts and 13,284 in Nevis, as per the data shared in the health ministrys’ report.
