Ackera Nugent Wins 100m Hurdles at Motonet GP Espoo in Finland
Jamaican hurdler Ackera Nugent clocked 12.78 seconds to win the women’s 100m hurdles at the World Athletics Continental Tour Bronze meeting in Espoo, Finland.

Jamaica: Jamaican hurdler Ackera Nugent has won the women’s 100m hurdles at the Motonet GP Espoo in Espoo, Finland, on Wednesday, August 19, 2026. She clocked 12.78 seconds with a legal wind of +0.7 m/s to secure a victory as she continues her 2026 season.
The performance came in the second half of Nugent’s 2026 campaign. Her time in Finland was comparatively slower than her season best of 12.61 seconds. She recorded her season best at the Lone Star GP in College Station, Texas, on June 6. The 12.61 remains her best 100m hurdles time for the 2026 season.
Nugent is Jamaica’s national record holder in the event. She set the national mark at 12.24 seconds at the Golden Gala in Rome on August 30, 2024. The time also remains her personal best.
Nugent first made a major mark internationally as a junior when she won the women’s 100m hurdles at the 2021 World Athletics U20 Championships in Nairobi, Kenya. She won the final in 12.95 seconds with a +0.8 m/s wind.
She moved on to the senior level at the 2023 World Athletics Championships in Budapest. Nugent reached the 100m hurdles final and finished fifth in 12.61 seconds.
In 2024, Nugent lowered the Jamaican record to 12.28 seconds at the national championships before she improved it to 12.24 seconds in Rome.
The Rome performance became the current national record and her personal best.
She has also represented Jamaica at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, where she reached the 100m hurdles final.
In 2025, she won a bronze in the women’s 60m hurdles at the World Athletics Indoor Championships in Nanjing, China. She clocked 7.74 seconds in the final to secure third place.
Nugent has also competed internationally including the Diamond League meetings in the 2026 season. Her season best of 12.61 seconds remains below her Jamaican record of 12.24 seconds.
At the Motonet GP Espoo, she also won her preliminary race before returning for the final. Her 12.78-second winning run gave her the top position in the event, ahead of Norway’s Martine Kolbeinshavn Hjørnevik and Finland’s Saara Keskitalo.
The Motonet GP Espoo was held at Leppävaara Stadium and formed part of the World Athletics Continental Tour Bronze series.
