29-year-old miner shot dead during altercation in Linden
Keron McDonald, was shot dead during an altercation at Prasville, Wismar, Linden, on Wednesday morning. A suspect is in police custody.

Guyana: A man was shot and killed during an altercation at Prasville in Wismar, Linden on Wednesday morning. The victim has been identified as Keron McDonald, an employee of Bosai Minerals Group Guyana from Block 22 in Wismar, Linden.
According to the Guyana Police Force, the shooting took place around 10:00 am on August 19, 2026. They said that McDonald was speaking with another 29-year-old man from Half Mile, Wismar, when an argument broke out between the two.
Police in Regional Division #10 said that the suspect allegedly pulled out a gun from a car during their argument and shot McDonald once in the left side of his chest. He was rushed to the Linden Hospital Complex, where he was declared dead.
The suspect was later arrested by the police and was brought to the Wismar Police Station, where he remains in police custody. Officers said that no firearm was found at the crime scene as of now.
The deceased’s sister told the police that the two men had a longstanding rivalry resulting from allegations that the suspect had a secret relationship with the victim’s wife.
My brother was going through a lot with his children’s mother and he accuse this guy of sleeping with her and he put up on his status something about the boy son and the boy came at my mother this morning and started one row, said the sister.
Investigations into the shooting and murder remain active, as there is no known motive or arrests made yet.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Junior Benjamin warned those responsible for the threats that serious actions will be taken against them. He said, “Once we find persons who are culpable or responsible for this, we will ensure that we bring those persons to justice. We are telling persons today that they should desist from those practices because, again, it has some serious consequences, especially when going before the court.”
