Bridgetown, Barbados: Frontier Airlines has announced the launch of its new services between Puerto Rico and Barbados, starting July 3, 2024. The flights will be operated thrice a week between Grantley Adams International Airport Barbados and San Juan’s Luis Munoz Marin International Airport in Puerto Rico.
The Vice President of Network and Operations Design at Frontier Airlines, Josh Flyr expressed his excitement to expand its services to Barbados.“As we look forward to an exciting and potentially record-breaking summer travel season, we are thrilled to further expand our route map. The airline further highlighted that it plans to reduce its flights to busy destinations such as Florida and Las Vegas, and will introduce new services to markets that are “underserved or overpriced.” The travellers will have to pay an introductory fare of US $59 (BDS $118) on their flights to Barbados– and the airline said that the price is subject to Government approval.
American-based ultra-low-cost carrier, Frontier Airlines operates 134 A320 family aircrafts and has the largest A320 neo family fleet in the United States of America. With the emergence of new flights, tourists will get an opportunity to explore the pristine beaches, vibrant culture, rich heritage and a visit to luxurious and A-class resorts and hotels.
Barbados is setting a new standard in terms of tourism. Recently, British Airways celebrated the 70th anniversary of its direct flights to the island nation. To celebrate this historic moment, British Airways is offering passengers the first-ever Mount Gay Rum while travelling to Barbados. Notably, British Airways operated its first one-stop flight from London Heathrow to Barbados on April 1, 1954, and now after seven decades, the airline is operating direct flights to Barbados.
The increase in airline services will boost the tourism sector of the island nation and contribute to the growth of its economy. The air travel has a significant impact on the development of tourism as it allows the destination to grow.
