PM Harris-led administration completes 7 years in office

                                                    St Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister Dr Timothy Harris has completed successful seven years in the office. After this completion, Prime Minister Harris expressed pride and specially thanked the leader of the People’s Action Movement, Shawn Richards and the leader of the Concerned Citizens Movement, Mark Brantley, for their continuous support.
The PM further lauded the Team Unity Government and said that it has significantly taken steps to provide good governance to the administrative actions and legislative. While explaining the improved governance of the twin-island administration, the prime minister mentioned:
“Established by law a definitive period for tabling a Motion of No Confidence, clarified the role of the Public Accounts Committee, and operationalized the Procurement and Contract (Administration) Act.”
Prime Minister Harris further emphasized the transparency and accountability provided by the government in these long seven years. PM said, “St Kitts and Nevis is at a high with regular public engagements via programmes such as Working For You, Leadership Matters and Press Conferences and regular meetings of Parliament.”
He said that the number of homicides had been decreased in St Kitts and Nevis because of the increased funding, new facilities and new training opportunities for the security forces.
While highlighting the good works of the government, he said that “Our government has been committed to delivering better and bigger homes for the people of St Kitts and Nevis”. He further said that Team Unity had worked tirelessly for repairing and renovate their homes under the roof repair programme.
He added that around 900 applicants had been benefitted from the First Time Homeowners programme.
PM Harris further notified that the job availability in the Federation has gone at all time up and the nationals have strongly urged to take advantage of the positions in the public service department. According to the records, in 2019, there were 30,487 contributors to the scheme.
The Prime Minister concluded by applauding the government to navigate the choppy waters brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. He further optimized the future growth of the Federation’s economy post-COVID-19.
