PM Gaston Browne continues work as co-chair of the UN High-Level Panel on MVI

St John’s, Antigua and Barbuda: Prime Minister of the twin-island Federation of Antigua and Barbuda – Gaston Browne in New York, the United States of America, to continue his work as the co-chair of the UN High-Level Panel on the Multidimensional Vulnerability Index (MVI).
He is accompanied by his co-chair and former Prime Minister of Norway – Erna Solberg.
The update regarding his official visit was shared by the Office of the Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda through the official social media handle. “PM Gaston Browne, along with former Prime Minister of Norway Erna Solberg, continue their work as co-chairs of the UN High-Level Panel on the Multidimensional Vulnerability Index (MVI) on Wednesday in New York,” it informed the general public.
As per the official update, both are leading discussions at the United Nations headquarters for the 24th Meeting of the Panel as it seeks to win support from all stakeholders for the MVI, which is a measure of a country’s vulnerability to external shocks.
Prime Minister Browne was appointed as a co-chair last year in February. The minister was appointed by PGA after the nomination period among member states. Along with him, 11-member High-Level Panel was appointed.

As per the official update, the Panel started its work from the month of March 2022. It reviewed all relevant literature and ongoing work on a multidimensional vulnerability index. It also provided for the consideration of Member States and recommendations on some key points.
