Castries, Saint Lucia: A Sun-class cruise ship, Norwegian Sky, makes its inaugural call to Port Castries on Tuesday, 6th February, 2024. It is to be noted that the vessel has a capacity for 4000 passengers who disembark to explore the island and enjoy its beautiful surroundings and vibrant culture and traditions.
This visit of a renowned cruise ship marked the commencement of a new collaboration between the Norwegian cruise line and Saint Lucia. The Norwegian Cruise Line is celebrated for its Caribbean itineraries and vivacious onboard experience. The vessel docked at L Place Carenage and enhanced its beauty by exhibiting its adorned floral-painted décor.

Many renowned figures, including Catherine Cooper from cruise agent Cox and Company Ltd., Suzanna Isaac and Kareem Sifflet from the Saint Lucia Air & Sea Ports Authority, Samantha Charles from the Ministry of Tourism and Geraine Georges and Kenya James from the Saint Lucia Tourism Authority attended the plaque exchange ceremony aboard the ship.
Moreover, Norwegian cruise Captain Konstantinos Fafalios emphasised the warm hospitality of the island nation and considered it one of the most beautiful Caribbean islands. “Saint Lucia is a well-known and hospitable port for the cruise industry,” noted Konstantinos Fafalios.
Fafalios attributed this distinction to the iconic Pitons, Sulphur springs and other aesthetic features that elevate Saint Lucia to a destination in a class of its own.
Notably, Norwegian Sky marks the 15th inaugural cruise call of the 2023/2024 cruise tourism season.

With the arrival of the cruise ship, Saint Lucia anticipated a thriving cruise tourism season. It will also play a pivotal role in boosting the tourism sector of the island nation.
Various residents of the island nation took to their social media accounts and expressed their excitement on the inaugural call of Norwegian Sky.
One person commented, “It is so captivating; I’m looking forward to exploring the visit.”
Joyan Chicot, while expressing excitement about the Royal Caribbean, commented the following: “We need Icon of the Seas in our Harbour next.”
